Meet Benjamin

Our Owner Operator

Obol Care was founded on lived experience, professional expertise, and a genuine passion for supporting people with disability.

I’m Benjamin Kirsteuer — autistic, and deeply connected to the disability sector for over 25 years. My journey began in the late 1990s, working as a disability support worker in Ararat while completing my undergraduate studies in psychology and sociology at Ballarat University.

I later went on to complete a Juris Doctor at Monash University and worked as a solicitor, managing criminal and family law matters. Although I was successful in the legal field, I found my greatest sense of purpose in disability support — walking alongside people and helping them navigate life.

My greatest mentor has always been my mum, Marianne, a senior Division 1 nurse and strong advocate, who shaped the values and principles I carry into Obol Care today. Under her guidance, I learned the importance of advocacy, compassion, and genuine care.

Obol Care was created to be the service I wish I had when I was going through my hardest times. We are built on diversity and inclusivity, bringing together a team of people from all walks of life, including LGBTIQ+, Aboriginal, and people with disabilities.

We are proud to provide person-centred support without hidden fees, unfair cancellations, or barriers — just transparent, fair, and reliable care.

Today, I dedicate my life fully to Obol Care. I no longer practice as a solicitor, but I remain an officer of the Supreme Court of Victoria and carry with me the advocacy skills gained from my legal career.

This unique combination — lived experience of level 2 autism, decades of frontline support work, leadership in disability services, and legal expertise — gives me a perspective that is both personal and professional. It allows me, and the Obol Care team, to understand challenges deeply and create solutions that are practical, fair, and empowering.

At Obol Care, we walk beside you — not ahead of you. Together, we work towards independence, wellbeing, and a future where you feel supported, understood, and valued.
